Alchemy, 2007: turning lead into gold
The molds were made from a lead ingot
150 grams of pure dark Belgian chocolate were used per bar.
Each bar is numbered. The work is an edition of 50.
The bars are wrapped in gold foil and sealed with a stamp.
Alchemy was presented at MIMA’s Really Super Market, September 2007.
The Faust embroideries are an edition of 7. There are 5 images in the series. 2006.
1. In which Faust sneaks in to Gretchen’s bedroom and places a casket of jewels in order to win her affections.
2. In which Faust and Mephistopheles hide in the bushes to watch Gretchen considering her gifts of jewels and flowers from Faust and Sibel respectively.
3. In which Valentine lies dying, after having been slain by Faust, and berates Gretchen for her promiscuity.
4.  In which Gretchen awaits execution for the crime of infanticide, following the death of her baby.
5.  In which Gretchen returns to Earth from Heaven to rescue Faust’s soul from being taken as dues by Mephistopheles.
